St. Andrew's Episcopal Church

parish life

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church is a community of Christians who are members of the Episcopal Church of the U.S.A. which is a church within the Anglican Communion.  We come together as Christians to worhip, to pray and enjoy the fellowship we have in Christ.  We welcome you to be a part of this community's experiences.

The Parish is about community and fellowship.  Our lives are enriched by liturgy and enlivened by a several regular get-togethers and special events that provide friendship and fun for our parishioners, as well as the surrounding community.  In addition to a weekly coffee hour after Sunday services, we host special events that allow our parishioners, parish families, and friends, to interact with each other and our neighbors.

Interested?  Catch the vision with us as we serve God proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to all people; to grow in the understanding of God’s will through prayer, worship, and fellowship.

Prayer for Our Parish:
Lord, you have joined us in this community of faith at St. Andrew’s. We thank you for the love and fellowship we share and the many blessings you have given us. Yet we ask that you not let us grow complacent or cling too tightly to what we have. Inspire us to use our resources and talents generously on behalf of others. You know our financial situation. You have taught us to “ask, and you shall receive; seek and you will find; knock and it shall be open unto you.” Lord, we are asking! Help us to do the work that you have given us to do.We place all our burdens especially the financial ones before you. We know that we cannot solve all of these issues with our own power or by our own intelligence. Inspire us to come up with new ideas. Help us to be ever welcoming to new members. Teach us respect and compassion for each other. Strengthen us when we are weak, and forgive us when we fail you. Above all, help us always to keep you in our minds and to love and serve you with our whole hearts. Help us to be the parish that YOU have called us to be in Hartsdale. Amen

St. Andrew's Mission Statement:
"To proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all people; to grow in the understanding of God's will through prayer, worship, and fellowship; and to carry forth in our daily lives God's love through the sharing of our time, talent, and treasure."

St. Andrew's Church was once the home of Evangeline Booth - the first woman General of the Salvation Army.  The house itself dates from the 19th century and actually had a name: "Acadia." The house and property were purchased by the Episcopal Church in 1950, and the parish became incorporated in 1951.

The property (with the "mansion"/church, and its former garage is bordered by Central Park Avenue and N. Washington Ave. in Hartsdale.  Our next door "neighbor" is the Hartsdale Canine Cemetery. The original structure now houses the church, church offices and a meeting room on the first floor. Our "parish hall" (built in 1969) is a space the seats 100 persons and is used for larger parish gatherings.  It is also leased to groups and/or families in the community who are in need of a space for a workshop, conference, a party or an all day retreat.  For more information, please call the church office at 914-946-7931 or complete the contact us form.
